The Science Behind Surf Therapy

If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water...

Growing research suggests that surf therapy has effective, therapeutic benefits to those who have experienced trauma.  In addition, surfing provides the possibility of entering a "flow state," which allows us to be fully present in our bodies in a task.  Flow states not only provide some respite from current stressors, but they promote growth and creativity in ourselves.


22 veterans commit suicide every day. Trauma and mental health distress can deeply impact our relationships, our perception of the world around us, and our hope for the future. We do not believe veterans and first responders should walk through mental wellness alone. We believe in the power of community and the water for healing and hope.
